Brief

Due to the success of a previous collaboration with Shettleston Housing Association they asked GAP to design a piece to be integrated onto a new build project.

Challenges

The balance between artwork and building is often a delicate one. Being able to incorporate art that looks part of the building, that does not overpower or fade into insignificance, is always at the forefront of our design process.

As ivy is a natural artwork on buildings we thought the construction of the Virginia Creeper and its fabulous colours would compliment the building beautifully.

End Product

A framework of flowing stainless steel stems adorned adorned with slumped glass leaves sits quite naturally on the wall. The autumnal colours of the glass bring life to the building without overwhelming it by being too imposing.
