War Memorial dedicated to a local resident, James Stokes, who was killed in action during the second world war.

The beautiful Rose Memorial is aptly set in a park known as the Rose Garden. The Rose is cast in bronze and the granite base is made in the shape of a Victoria Cross, awarded to James Stokes.

Our artists created three pieces and the local community voted on their favourite. The piece is very calming, the dying rose bows its head in a mark of respect to all those who have given their lives in conflict.

Look carefully at the inscription which also very apt " Stop and look, really look, tomorrow may be too late."
